ACCEL SUPER COIL

Nei giorni scorsi ho avuto modo di installare una bobina Accel sullo Sportster di un amico. In realtà ho già trattato l'argomento in passato e sono quasi due anni che cerco di convincere il mio amico a fare questo passo. Può sembrare strano ma la bobina gioca un ruolo molto importante nel buon funzionamento di una moto. E Accel propone una vasta gamma di bobine dalle alte prestazioni che vi faranno guadagnare cavalli e spunto in men che non si dica. Meglio sempre abbinarle a dei buoni cavi candele Accel da 8.8mm e candele Accel U-Groove. Il mio amico non ci credeva. Ora gli pare di avere un'altra moto. Migliorate le prestazioni, il minimo più regolare, il sound. E tutto perchè arriva più corrente alle candele.

In the past few days I had a chance to install an Accel Super Coil on a friend's Sportster. Actually I already posted in the past about this issue and I spent almost two years trying to convince my fried to replace his OEM coil. Sad but true his 883 is now a roaring thunder. In fact a little device such as a coil makes a big difference in the performance of a bike. And Accel offers a big range of Super Coils that drastically enhance the performance of your bikes. Even better if you add Accel 8.8 mm spark plug wires and accel U-Groove spark plugs. My friend was stoked. Better sound, faster rise, smoother idle. Think about it.

BONDAGE

E' già Lunedì mattina, il sole splende alto nel cielo terso e l'aria è ancora frizzante. E già qualcuno si è lamentato che non ho postato le foto per cominciare bene la settimana. Allora beccatevi queste. Il tema rappresenta il mio stato d'animo di questa mattina. Incasinato col lavoro, incasinato con la famiglia, e c'ho pure il raffreddore!

It's Monday mornig already. The sun is shining up in the clear blue sky. The air is still chilling. And somebody already complained that I didn't post anything yet to begin the new week in a proper way. Well these pics well represent my mood. Work is a mess, family is a mess and I even got a cold!

CINGHIA ROTTA - BROKEN BELT

Un amico prende una Road King usata del 2001 con un po' di chilometri ma messa bene. Gli dico che secondo me la cinghia è da sostituire. Detto fatto. Cinghia spezzata alla prima rotonda fuori casa. Ma io mi chiedo chi è quel furbo che ha studiato queste moto. Per cambiare una cinghia ad una Touring bisogna non solo asportare scarichi e borse, ma anche tutta la primaria ed il forcellone posteriore, quindi ruota pinza e ammortizzatori. Così ne approfitto per dargli un'occhiata approfondita. E' sempre un piacere sventrare una moto in questo modo e scavare tra i suoi ingranaggi con le mani piene d'olio. Altrimenti non mi chiamerei Crazyoils!

A friend just got a used 2001 Road King. I looked at it and told him that he should replace the final belt. One day later he calls me with a broken belt in his hands just out of the front door of his place. Who in the Hell designed this thing? To replace the final belt you need to remove the mufflers, saddldebags, the complete primary case and the rear fork, wheel, brake caliper and shocks. Anyway it's always a pleasure to play with nuts and bolts and get my hands dirty with lots of oil. Otherwise I wouldn't call myself Crazyoils!

ASI MOTOSHOW 2011

Il prossimo fine settimana si terrà a Varano De' Melegari la decima edizione dell'ASI Moto Show, manifestazione internazionale dedicata a tutti i motoveicoli d'epoca pre 1990. Ormai sono alcuni anni che ci vado e non credo mancherò questa volta. Merita davvero, le moto, le corse, i campioni. Un evento davvero speciale e giusta scusa per macinare chilometri e farsi un bel giro tra le colline del Granducato di Parma e Piacenza.

The next week-end I'll attend the 10th edition of the ASI Moto Show. It's an International event for all the pre 1990 motorcycles. It's something you don't want to miss. The bikes, the races, the champions. and it's a nice excuse to take a ride through hills nd castles.

IN GINOCCHIO - ON MY KNEES

In ginocchio è la posizione che assumerò questa settimana per sistemare una serie di moto in cantiere. Quindi ci sarà da sudare e sporcarsi le mani. Intanto voi godetevi queste varianti decisamente più carine di me e buona settimana!

SPORTSTER MAGAZINES

Voi non avete idea di quante riviste ci sono in Giappone dedicate esclusivamente agli Sportster. Queste sono solo le copertine di alcune chicche che mi sono arrivate di recente. Tutte in grande formato, centinaia di pagine piene di foto, novità, moto, accessori e chi più ne ha più ne metta. Continuo a sfogliarle affascinato e non mi accorgo neppure che sono tutte scritte in giapponese!

You have no idea how many Sportster magazines there are in Japan. These are only a few of the ones that I recently bought. Amazing. Hundreds of pages packed with pics, news, bikes, and accessories. I keep looking through them and I hardly realize that everything is written in Japanese!

2007 XL883R TURN SIGNALS

Anche le frecce contano ed influenzano la linea e lo stile di una moto. Prima erano le bullet originali, quasi un po' volute mantenere tali o forse tralasciate per modifiche più importanti. Ma ora è giunto il momento di sostituire pure quelle. Davanti abbiamo optato per due freccine assolutamente minimali a led montate ai lati del cupolino. Ci sono ma non si vedono. Si integrano perfettamente e snelliscono la linea della moto. Dietro il lavoro è stato più impegnativo. Le Kellermann sono un classico, ma non volevamo mettere piastrine aggiuntive per tappare i buchi sulla cover della staffa del parafango. Così abbiamo saldato, stuccato e riverniciato per rendere tutto più pulito e filante. Il risultato è che siamo riusciti a dare molto più risalto agli ammortizzatori Ohlins e agli scarichi Supertrapp.

Even the turn signals are important for the style of a bike. In this case we kept the OEM ones because we modified more important parts but now it's time to replace them. We went for two very tiny ones in the front that fit perfectly on the spoiler. Nice and clean. In the back we added a pair of Kellermans but we didn't want to have extra parts covering the remaing holes on the fender strut covers. A bit of welding and a good powdercoating and the result is great. Now you can see much better the Ohlins rear shocks and the Supertrapp pipes.

CRAZYOILS RUN 01/05/2011

Tutti per uno, uno per tutti. Questo potrebbe essere un bel modo di definire il nostro Crazyoils Run del 1 Maggio. Ma ce ne sarebbero tanti altri altrettanto validi. Il sole caldo, i luoghi stupendi, le strade dalle mille curve, il Parmigiano Reggiano DOP del Fornacione, il Lambrusco, l'ospitalità, i sorrisi, l'armonia, l'amicizia, trenta moto diverse per modello, marca e tipologia, tutte riunite insieme per fare una sorpresa unica e rara ad un ragazzo gravemente disabile che per un giorno ha vissuto da protagonista e che porterà con sè il ricordo di questa giornata memorabile almeno fino alla prossima volta che andremo a trovarlo. GRAZIE a tutti coloro che hanno partecipato, grazie di cuore. Grazie ai familiari di "Guli", grazie ai ragazzi del Vimo Road Runners Moto Club, grazie all'amico Flavio, a sua moglie ed alla loro splendida FLHTCS Electra Glide Classic con Sidecar del 1991 senza la quale non avremmo potuto regalare a Guli un esclusivissimo giro in moto. Grazie al tempo, grazie ai fotografi, grazie agli amici di Crazyoils. Perchè purtroppo Guli non riesce a dire grazie se non col suo sorriso ed il suo evidente entusiasmo. Ma lo facciamo noi per lui.

All for one and one for all. This could be a nice way to describe the Crazyoils Run of the last week-end. Great warm sun, amazing landscapes, beautiful curvy roads, the Parmigiano Reggiano DOP of the Fornacione, the Lambrusco, the great hospitality, the smiles, the friendship, thirty bikes of all brands and kinds. Everyone was there just for one reason: to make a surprise to an handicapped kid and to take him to the ride of his life, until the next one. THANK YOU to everyone that was there. Thanks to "Guli"'s family, thanks to the Vimo Road Runners Moto Club, thanks to Flavio and his wife and their beautiful 1991 FLHTCS Electra Glide Classic with Sidecar. We couldn't let this happen without it. Thanks to the great weather, to the photographers, to the Crazyoils' friends. Unfortunately Guli cannot speak and say thanks but we will do it for him.
