2009 XR1200

Un ritocco di colore ad una vecchia conoscenza. Mancava ancora qualcosa a questa splendida XR1200. Il frontalino ed il parafanfo anteriori sono stati verniciati di nero lucido mentre i fiachetti hanno ricevuto anche l'aggiunta di una striscia a scacchi che ne enfatizza il carattere corsaiolo.

A bit of extra vivid black on this old friend's bike makes it look even better. The front mask and front fender have been repainted and also the two side covers but with a touch of racing white too.

XR1200 - K&N AND HYPERPRO

Mi sono concesso un momento di pausa dai lavori pesanti per aggiungere un paio di chicche alla XR1200 di un amico. Il nuovo filtro aria K&N e l'ammortizzatore di sterzo della HyperPro. Due prodotti professionali di altissima qualità per una moto che già di suo ha le carte in regola per la competizione.

I took a break from the heavy work to add a couple of little toys to the XR1200 of a friend of mine. The new K&N air filter element and the HyperPro steering damper. Two very professional items of the finest quality for a bike that is already a winner.

XR1200 LED SPOILER

Lo so che è contro ogni buon gusto, eppure ci siamo divertiti a mettere i LED dentro il puntale dell'XR1200 del nostro amico e ne siamo molto soddisfatti. E' stato bello creare il supporto per l'interruttore, quasi invisibile e molto pratico, sul morsetto dei riser. Da qui partono due fili nascosti che accendono due gruppi di LED posizionati dietro le griglie dello spoiler. Ovviamente supporti e spoiler sono stati realizzati a mano da Crazyoils. E vedeste che effetto fa al buio!

I know you will not like this but we had some fun installing LED lights under the spoiler of our friend's XR1200 and we are very happy about it. It' been nice to create the switch support that fits perfectly under the handlebar clamp and hiding two groups of LED lights behind the two grills of the spoiler. Everything is hand made by Crazyoils, the supports, the spoiler the grills. And you should see how nice it looks when it's dark! 

XR1200 SPOILER

Nei giorni scorsi abbiamo scritto poco, ma abbiamo prodotto tanto. Tra i vari lavoretti spiccano questi due piccoli update all'XR1200 del nostro amico. Cablaggio interno del manubrio con l'aggiunta di manopole Arlen Ness e puntale fatto a mano da Crazyoils. Quest'ultimo in particolare è stato costruito prendendo come base uno spoiler universale in vetroresina ed adattandolo nella forma all'estetica dell'XR. Sono state costruite speciali staffe per il montaggio e soprattutto è stato forato, grigliato e dipinto in modo da riprendere le linee del frontalino, già elaborato in passato da noi. Non male, no?

The reason why we did not post much in the past few days is that we were busy making parts for our friends. This is a nice update of the same old XR1200. We added internal wiring to the handlebar and brand new Arlen Ness grips. But the most important thing is the new spoiler we created adapting a universal fiberglass spoiler. Cut and shaped, drilled and painted to perfectly fit the bike and match with the front plate and headlights. The result isn't bad at all. 

XR1200 BLACK CUSTOM NEW UPDATE

Nuove modifiche alla XR1200 del nostro amico. I paracalore da neri lucidi sono diventati neri opachi e sono state aggiunte delle griglie metalliche sotto i fori larghi. A dirlo sembra facile ma richede un discreto numero di ore di lavoro tra preparazione, saldatura, levigatura e verniciatura. Ma il risultato merita decisamente!

New updates on our friend's XR1200. The heatshields that we painted in vivid black have been removed, sanded, welded, finished and repainted in flat black. It seems an easy work but it takes quite a few hours of hard and precise work. The result is worth it!

XR1200 BLACK CUSTOM

L'amico dell'XR1200 è ritornato a trovarci entusiasmato dal fascino del nero e dei fori e dandoci carta bianca nel fare un po' di lavoretti e di modifiche alla sua amata moto. Ancora una volta ci siamo divertiti a sforacchiare e dipingere con gusto per rendere ancora più unico questo bel mezzo. Quindi siamo partiti dai paracalore con fori di diametri differenti, tutto rigorosamente nero lucido. A seguire la pedalina del freno è stata ritoccata e con lei i comandi del cambio ed i supporti pedane sono diventati anch'essi neri lucidi. lo stesso vale per il dorso della strumentazione, mentre i coperchi frizione e catena e la ghiera del tappo serbatoio sono diventati neri opachi a contrastare il lucido della carrozzeria e ad uniformarsi col satinato del blocco motore. L'aggiunta dei cavi gas e frizione in maglia metallica rivestita ha completato l'opera.

The XR1200 is back for more holes and black parts. We had some fun restyling the look of the bike by drilling out the whole heatshield system and brake pedal and turning all the parts into vivid black. Primary inspection covers turned into flat black and the same was for the gas tank cap ring. We also painted black the back side of the instruments cover to match with the front panel and added stainless steel throttle and idle cables and clutch cable to match with the oil lines we replaced the last time. Not bat for an XR1200 that is getting better and better everytime.

KIT FANALE E TABELLA FREE SPIRITS PER XR1200 - FREE SPIRITS XR1200 HEADLIGHTS

La fase successiva di modifica all'XR1200 ha coinvolto l'impianto di illuminazione anteriore ed il frontalino che sono stati completamente sostituiti da un nuovissimo kit della Free Spirits opportunamente adattato e modificato. Il kit in sè è di ottima fattura e qualità e monta due faretti lenticolari alogeni omologati, ma la tabella che li dovrebbe racchiudere secondo noi era fin troppo larga ed andava a nascondere in qualche modo l'estetica dell'XR. Va bene per un portanumero  da trofeo, ma per una moto da città per un utilizzo quotidiano ci voleva un piccolo ritocco. Abbiamo così elaborato la tabella originale riducendone le dimensioni in modo da rendere visibili entrambe le piastre forcella e parte degli steli. Poi è stata sagomata, piegata e fresata con una serie di asole che lasciano posto ad una griglia metallica. Dietro a questa abbiamo riposizionato il clacson in origine montato sotto il canotto di sterzo. Per finire una bella verniciatura nera con filetto e griglia bianchi che si abbina alla livrea originale dell'XR. Un lavoretto semplice ma che ci ha dato tanta soddisfazione nel risultato finale.

The next step of works on the XR1200 was the front headlight. It has been replaced with a dual halogen kit by Free Spirits. It's a nice brand new kit, very well manufactured, that combines two halogen lamps on a metal plate supposedly used as a number plate on racing tracks. Anyway we decided the plate was too big, flat and empty for our friend's XR so we cut it here and there, made some adjustments and drilled some holes for a metal grill. Behind it we relocated the clacson origially placed under the frame. To complete the job we painted everything in black with a white stripe and grill. It's been a nice little work but we are so happy about the final result.

IMPIANTO BRAKING PER XR1200 - BRAKING ROTOR FOR XR1200

Finalmente XR1200 del nostro amico è finita, almeno per questo giro. Abbiamo montato un bell'impianto Braking posteriore composto da disco Wave, tubo areonautico e pastiglie sinterizzate. L'impianto anteriore, sempre della Braking, era già stato installato in precedenza presso un'altra officina. Questo lo va a completare nell'estetica e nella performance.

Finally the XR1200 of our friend is ready to hit the road. We installed a rear Braking Wave rotor combined with a Braking stainless steel brake line and Braking brake pads. This one completes the front Braking floating rotors in style and performance.
