1998 FLHT ELECTRA GLIDE

Questa è l'ultima moto sulla quale abbiamo avuto il piacere di mettere le mani prima di finire su un'isola sperduta per la chiusura estiva. E' una FLHT Electra Glide del 1998 alla quale il proprietario nostro vecchio amico ci ha chiesto di fare qualche piccola modifica. Cominciando dalla parte posteriore dove la targa è stata abbassata e sostituito il supporto frecce con quello originale della Street Glide. La luce posteriore è invece della Kuryakyn in versione smoked lay down. Poi sono stati sostituiti bobina, candele e cavi candele con quelli della Accel e rivista la carburazione. Il buon vecchio Evo ha pochi chilometri e canta che è un piacere. Ma il lavoro più complesso lo ha richiesto l'avantreno. Modificato in precedenza dopo un incidente, aveva ancora parecchi problemi che abbiamo dovuto risolvere. Abbiamo sostituito le molle con un kit della Progressive Suspension e cambiato l'olio con uno più duro per assecondare la frenata. Infatti ora la vecchia Electra monta due bei dischi flottanti Discacciati completi di pinze a quattro pistoncini. Un impianto frenante di tutto rispetto che fa invidia ai moderni Twin Cam. Tuttavia montato malamente su un cerchio di un Fat Boy che abbiamo dovuto completamente riprendere per creare i corretti distanziali affinche il tutto fosse centrato ed in grado di funzionare al meglio. Una stretta al canotto di sterzo e la moto era pronta per il suo viaggio estivo tra Liguria, Costa Azzurra e Faaker See.

This is the last bike we played with before ending up on a remote island for the Summer vacation. It's a 1998 FLHT Electra Glide of a friend of us that asked us to do some little changes. Starting from the back side we relocated the licence plate and turn signals and replaced the rear stop light with a Kuryakyn smoked lay down one. Then we replaced the coil, spark plugs and wires with the Accel Super Coil kit to give the engine more fresh energy. But the hardest work has been done on the front end. Somebody fixed it after an accident but there were still some problems that we had to solve. We replaced the springs with a Progressive Suspension kit and put some new heavier oil to improve the front end especially because we added two brand new Discacciati floating rotors and four piston brake calipers. Now the good old Evo brakes better than a new Twin Cam. The problem was adapting the single brake Fat Boy wheel that was previously mounted. We had to create the correct spacers to make everything fit properly and work the best way. At the end the bike was ready to roll from the Coast of France to the lakes of Faaker See.
