MERCATINO MOTO D'EPOCA - NOVEGRO SWAP MEET

Tra i vari appuntamenti di questi giorni c'è anche stata la Mostra Scambio Auto e Moto D'Epoca a Novegro (MI). Nulla di nuovo ed interessante rispetto alle edizioni precedenti, ma vale la pena pubblicare qualche bel ferro vecchio italiano in versione restaurata ed originale. Peccato i prezzi fuori mercato.

Among the various things that I have to do these days I tryed to fit in the Novegro Swap Meet. Nothing interesting more than the past issues but I thought it would be nice to share some pics of some good ol' bikes. Too bad prices are way too high.

GOOD VIBRATIONS - EICMA 2009

L'atelier Good Vibration si presenta in fiera all'Eicma 2009 con uno stand che propone molti pezzi interessanti, dalle moto alle ragazze. Nato da poco sulla scena italiana è comunque entrato in questo mondo con forza e coraggio aggiungendo quel qualcosa in più che prima non c'era e che era considerato irraggiungibile. Big Bear Choppers ad esempio, ma anche vetrina per alcuni grandi nomi italiani come Andreoli o Wakas, e poi marchi di abbigliamento e gadget di tutto rispetto.

Good Vibrations: the atelier of choppers in Milan, Italy is now at the Eicma 2009 with a big booth full of nice bikes and beauties. They came on the Italian scene just recently, but they came out strong and proud, bringing new products on the market that once were conidered a dream. Big Bear Choppers for example, but they also display customs by Andreoli or Wakas, and also some exclusive brands of clothing and accessories.

ACCEL SUPER COIL KIT

Non c'è nulla di più bello in questo lavoro della gratificazione dei miei clienti soddisfatti. In questi giorni sto montando diversi accessori. Cose di poco conto, in realtà. Parti cromate, riser, manopole, filtri, scarichi. Le solite cose insomma. Ma mentre i clienti spesso cercano modifiche estetiche (perchè anche l'occhio vuole la sua parte) e qualcuno si cimenta nel solito kit "scarchi-filtro-centralina", io mi diletto a fare un salto nel passato prestando attenzione a modifiche semplici ma utili alla performance della mia moto.

Lo Sportsterino è sicuramente una buona base su cui giocare. Dopo un paio di nuovi filtri old school e sempre più aperti, ed un vecchio paio di terminali turn out originali H-D completamente vuoti, ho deciso di scoprire l'efficacia di una bobina più performante.

La ACCEL produce da anni accessori per Harley-Davidson di ottima qualità. Tra questi ho deciso di provare il SUPERCOIL KIT. Si tratta di un kit bobina e cavi candele altamente tecnologico. Bando alle cromature. La bobina rigorosamente gialla produce una resistenza di 3ohm con un'uscita sulle candele dai 30.000 ai 45.000 volt. Di serie le bobine H-D viaggiano intorno ai 20.000volt. Questo significa un minimo garantito molto più fluido, ma soprattutto un'accellerazione molto più veloce, con una combustione migliore e più precisa, e quindi aumento dello spunto, dei cavalli e riduzione dei consumi. Tutto questo abbinato a speciali cavi candele in silicone e grafite ad alta conduzione da 8,8mm e a candele al platino ed elettrodo a U. La spesa non è alta ma la resa è immediata ed incredibile. Da provare! Altro che centraline e mappature! Negli anni '80 non esisteva l'elettronica che c'è oggi e quindi si facevano le vere modifiche di performance come appunto questa del gruppo bobina-cavi-candele. ACCEL produce bobine, cavi e candele per tutti gusti. C'è solo da trovare quello più adatto alle vostre esigenze.

There is nothing better than a happy customer. I've been working a lot these days mounting the usual accessories. Chrome parts, risers, handgrips, footpegs, air cleaners and mufflers. Same old stuff. Most customers care more about the style and look of their bikes. A few of them think about the kit "exhaust-aircleaner-power commander". Instead I started looking back at the past modifications and decided to try out the ACCEL SUPERCOIL KIT. It has a primary resistance of 3.0ohms. The higher output ranges from 30.000 to 45.000 volts while stock output is around 20.000 volts. This will produce the maximum amount of spark energy, fast coil rise times and a voltage output that is 45% higher than the OEM coil. Greater performance, longer spark plug life and less consumes. And all of this at a very affordable cost. Of course it is a must to combine the Supercoil with the 8.8mm silicone and graphite spark plug wires and Paltinum U-groove spark plugs. The result is amazing. That's how they made these engines run and roar back in the 80's! Accel produces many kinds of coils, wires and spark plugs. You just need to find the right one for you.

Domani comincia l'EICMA 2009 che durerà fino a domenica. Il 67mo Salone Internazionale del ciclo e motociclo è sempre un appuntamento interessante per gli amanti delle due ruote. Mercoledì farò un salto a vedere e poi posterò un po' di foto.

EICMA 2009 begins tomorrow and it will last until Sunday. The 67th International Motorcycle Exhibition is always an important event for the two wheels enthusiast of all kinds. I'll go there on Wednesday and then I'll post some pics.

Chi può salire sul palco di un concerto pieno di belle signorine con tre chopper con forche da due metri se non i Motley Crue, rievocando uno dei brani più storici del Glam Rock degli anni '80 e '90.

Parlo di Girls Girls Girls, Signori, tratta dall'omonimo album del 1987. Vince Neil alla voce, Mick Mars alla chitarra, Nikki Sixx al basso ed il mitico Tommy Lee alla batteria, sapevano fare rock come si deve, vivendolo fino in fondo e rispettando la sacra regola "Sex Drugs and R'N'R". Quindi belle donne e belle moto si sprecano. Per loro il video live ed anche l'originale.

A stage full of lights and nice girls. Who could make his entrance with three choppers with two meters forks? Motley Crue, baby! And they raised hell with one of the hottes hits of the '80s and '90s Glam Rock.
I'm talkin' about Girls, Girls, Girls, taken from the same LP from 1987. Vince Neil at the vocals, Mick Mars on the guitar, Nikki Sixx on the bass, and the legendary Tommy Lee at the drums. They sure knew how to play and live Sex Drugs and R'n'R. So girls and bikes are on their way. Respect to the Crue with the live video and the original one.

Vorrei parlarvi di un nuovo libro, unico nel suo genere ed interessantissimo.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON HISTORY OF JAPAN 1913-2000.

E' tutto scritto in giapponese, e fin qui ci siamo, ma la cosa interessante è che descrive il percorso storico della presenza di H-D in Giappone per quasi un secolo attraverso centinaia di foto d'epoca che mai abbiamo visto prima, visto che sono sempre rimaste tra i segreti delle isole del Sol Levante.

Le unità produttive di H-D in Giappone, la Rikuo, i Samurai, quelli veri in Kimono e quelli in divisa durante le guerre, motori, raduni, fino ad arrivare al inizio del secondo millenio.

Un libro incredibile da avere. Forse forse qualche copia ancora riesco a reperirla.

There's a book out there called HARLEY-DAVIDSON HISTORY OF JAPAN 1913-2000. Really hard to find but incredibly interesting and unique.

It describes the story of H-D in Japan over a century through hundreds of vintage never seen before pictures.

H-D Japanese Plants, the Rikuo, Samurais, the real ones with Kimonos and swords, the wars, engines, meetings, until the beginning of the second millenium.

An amazing book, a must to have. I may still be able to find a few more copies.

MANOPOLE / OLD SCHOOL / HANDGRIPS

Bel dilemma: ora ho un sacco di manopole old school per bobber e chopper, bianche, rosse, blu e nere e di forme diverse. Devo solo decidere cosa montare. Penso bianche su XLH '91 e rosse su FLH '73. In ogni caso sono tutte in vendita. Grande qualità e basso prezzo.

This is a big deal: I've got a nice lot of old school bobber and chopper rubber handgrips. White, red, blue and black and two different shapes. I still don't know what to mount where. I guess I'll go for the white ones on the '91 XLH and the red ones on the '73 FLH. In any case they are all on sale. Just ask me. Great quality and low price.

VIDEO DELLA SETTIMANA - WINGER - MILES AWAY

Nel 1990 gli Winger, capitanati da Kip Winger, erano una delle band cool della scena Hard Rock e Metal americana. Capelli cotonati, facce da bravi ragazzi, con giacche di pelle e borchie, produssero pochi album, ma buoni complessivamente. Tra le varie hit ricordiamo questa ballad, "Miles Away" in cui ovviamente compare una Springer a coronare la travagliata storia d'amore di una bella ragazza.

In 1990 the band Winger, led by Kip Winger, was one of the hottest and coolest bands in the American Hard Rock and Heavy Metal scene. With big long hair and pretty faces, spiked leather jackets, they produced a few LP's, fairly good overall. Among them I'd like to remember this ballad "Miles Away". In the video, of course there's a Softail Springer that comes up to save the troubled love life of a pretty girl.

JAMES HETFIELD'S WIDOWMAKER

Non è una notizia nuova, ma forse non tutti la sanno, e poi mi piace includerla nel contesto di CRAZYOILS, dove motori e musica vanno allo stesso ritmo.

Vi ricordate di James Hetfiled, mitico frontman dei Metallica? Come non conoscerlo? Beh, il buon vechhio James ha un paio di di buone passioni oltre alla sua musica, alla sua famiglia e ai barbeque con gli amici. Belle macchine e belle moto, tant'è vero che quando Custom Chrome gli ha proposto di costruirne una insieme a Kirk Taylor di Custom Design Studios, non ha potuto evitare di cogliere la palla al balzo. Ne è nata Widowmaker, un bellissimo esempio di Panhead misto Board Tracker anni '20 e Drag Racer anni '60. Se cliccate sul titolo del post potete gustarvi tutte le immagini.

It may be not a recent news but I like to include it in CRAZYOILS since our bikes and music have got the same sound and speed.

Do you remember James Hetfild, the legendary Metallica's frontman? Who doesn't know him? Well, good ol' James has a couple of good hobbies besides his music, his family and bbq's with friends. He likes nice cars and nice bikes, so when Custom Chrome offered him and bikebuilder Kirk Taylor of Custom Design Studios to build a new bike he jumped on the occasion. The result is the Widowmaker, a great example of a Panhead in between a 1920's Board Tracker and a 1960's Drag Racer. Awesome dudes! Just clic on the post title to view the images.
