Proprio mentre cominciavo a divertirmi con le moto, sono stato incastrato per una settimana bianca con le mie quattro bellissime ragazze. Va beh, vorrà dire che ne approfitterò per ricaricare le batterie e poi riprendere con nuova forza ed entusiasmo. Che vita difficile...

Right when I was about going to have fun with my bike builds I received this offer to go up on the mountains for a white week together with my four beautiful girls. Oh well, I guess I'll take some time to recharge my batteries so that when I come back I'll be 100% focused on my bikes. What a tough life...

2006 FLHX STREET GLIDE BAGGER PROJECT - FRONT FENDER

Uno egli aspetti divertenti della costruzione di una special bike, ed in questo caso specifico di una bagger, è di trovare soluzioni sempre nuove ai piccoli problemi che si insontrano via via che si procede. Avendo dipinto la forcella anteriore di nero lucido e dopo aver modificato opportunamente un costoso parafango Ness per adattarlo ai miei scopi, ho deciso di cambiare e riposizionare le frecce anteriori. Ho optato per due filanti bullet a LED omologati che però ho piazzato a fianco dei foderi della forcella proprio sulle nuove piastre di attacco del parafango che ho costruito. Manca solo di rifinire il cablaggio elettrico ma il risultato è davvero ottimo ed originale.

One of the fun aspects of custom bike building is finding problems along the way and solving them by creating or modifying parts in order to make everything fit properly. In this case I had to fix a broken Ness front fender. So I modifyied it and created some new fender brackets to make it fit better. At the same time I powdercoated the front fork so I decided to replace the front turn signals with some smooth bullet LED ones. Moreover I moved them down next to the fender mounts to give the bike a newer and cooler look.

Finalmente ho messo in opera la seconda full bagger di Crazyoils. Sulla base di una FLHX Street Glide del 2006 ci stiamo divertendo a tagliare, modificare, creare e montare per fare una nuova bagger molto interessante. Contiamo questa volta di ultimarla in tempi record. Intanto potete vedere un anteprima del nuovo apehanger della Paughco da 15" e delle borse e parafango stretch di Bad Dad. Finally we started the second full bagger by Crazyoils. It's going to be buit over a 2005 FLHX Street Glide. We're gonna have fun creating new parts, chopping here and there and adding some special parts out of our catalogs. We thruly hope to finish this one as quick as possible. Ecco in anteprima il sistema di selle creato da Crazyoils per la Bagger Special N.2. Alla sella solo originaria rivestita in pelle rossa con impunture bianche si sono aggiunti un cuscino passeggero comodo ma non visivamente invasivo ed un mini schienale per il guidatore. Esiste anche uno schienale a sgancio rapido che completa l'opera.

This is the complete seat system that Crazyoils has created for its Bagger Special N.2. I added a passenger pillion to the original red leather solo seat and I created a mini driver sissybar with pad that fits right in between the two seats. There is also a passenger detachable sissybar that goes with the seats to make everyone comfortable.

BAD DAD IN ITALY

Derk e Jacob di Bad Dad sono venuti per la prima volta in Italia in occasione del Motor Bike Expo di Verona. Successivamente sono stati in visita da Fabrizio Favre, Presidente della FIC (Federazione Italiana Customizers), e infine a Milano da Crazyoils.

Derk and Jacob of Bad Dad came to Italy for their first time to attend the Verona Bike Expo. After the show they were special guest of Fabrizio Favre, President of FIC (Federazione Italiana Customizers) and then visited Milan together with Crazyoils.

L'altro giorno ho voluto fare un esperimento per conto di un amico che voleva avere gli ammortizzatori cromati coperti senza però rinunciare alla comodità dei suoi originali. Così ho acquistato due cover per ammortizztori e mi sono divertito a smontare i suoi. Mi sono ingegnato cinque minuti sotto la pressa, un po' di pazienza ed ecco che i vecchi ammo erano a pezzi. Ho optato per accorciare le molle di un paio di centimetri tagliando e risaldando il tutto. Poi ho rimontato coi dovuti accorgimenti. Il risultato è sorprendente e la spesa ridicola. E in più mi sono pure divertito, come al solito del resto.

The other day I decided to make an experiment by converting my friend's old stock shocks in some new chrome covered ones. So I purchased a set of shocks covers and started to disassemble the old shocks under a press. In five minutes they were in pieces. I decided to lower the springs about an inch so I cut them and welded them back to make things the proper way. Then I reassembled everything. Amazing result. Now my friend has got some new chrome covered shocks that are almost standard lenght and work pretty well. The cost is nothing. And I had a lot of fun too, as always.

Ma è sfogliando Vibes di Febbraio che mi rendo conto di quanto è vario il mondo, di quanto si può ancora imparare e migliorare, e di quando siano avanti i giapponesi. Credo che se si tenesse un bike show internazionale coi controfiocchi nel paese del sol levante se ne vedrebbero delle belle. La special sulla copertina di questo numero è strabiliante per la cura maniacale dei dettagli, e poi finalmente si cominciano a vedere anche delle bagger giapponesi. Un settore nuovissimo ma che ha margini di miglioramento enormi.

Check out the February issue of Vibes Magazine. I realise more and more that there are infinite possibilities of customizing bikes and we still have to learn a lot in every sense. I guess that if they held an international bike show in Japan there could be some nice surprises. The special bike on the cover is incredibly detailed. Really impressive. Also some baggers start to appear which means that soon we'll see some crazy nice solution from the land of the rising sun.

Avere due piastre forcella nuove fatte su misura può far piacere, ma la soddisfazione di averle costruite con le proprie mani è impagabile. The Creech colto da raptus da customizzazione ha voluto dare prova di sè prendendo due piastre di ergal e ricavandone due splendide piastre forcella per la sua Guzzi. Ora monta due steli di un Ducati Monster con due piaste con interasse ed inclinazione per la Guzzi California del '75. Un po' di studio insieme a Crazyoils, una verniciata a polvere ed in un paio di giorni la forcella è montata.

Having a set of custom made triple trees is something cool. Being able to make your own triple trees is priceless. The Creech wanted to replace his old triple trees with some new ones that could fit on his 1975 Guzzi California but could mount a Ducati Monster front fork. So he took two ergal plates and in a couple of days he made his own triple trees. With a little consulting with Crazyoils and a good flat black powdercoating the result is awesome.

2010 FLHTK ULTRA LIMITED

Un altro piccolo progetto che può diventare una grande bagger. Una Ultra Limited del 2010 che ho avuto l'onore di rivedere in alcune sue parti. Il sistema di aspirazione è stato modificato con un filtro aria RSD Venturi 7 splendidamrente cromato mentre il lato sinistro è stato riempito con un Dual Horn della Howards Horns opportunamente modificato. Ma il lavoro maggiore è stato montare un manubrio apehanger Bonanza di Kodlin, un gran bel pezzo devo ammettere, con tutto il cablaggio elettrico interno, manopole riscaldate comprese, blocchetti strumenti cromati, leve forate e tubazioni in treccia rivesta. In particolare il cablaggio elettrico mi ha fatto penare non poco, ma alla fine il risultato merita, per una bagger di fabbrica o quasi. La comodità di guida è sorprendente.

This is another little project that could become a nice bagger. It's a 2010 FLHTK Ultra Limited that I was pleased to modify a bit. The intake has been enhanced with an RSD Venturi 7 air cleaner while the left side of the engine has been filled with a Dual Howards Horn that has been modified to fit properly. But the hardest part has been the installation of a Kodlin Bonanza apehanger with all the internal wiring, chrome hand controls, drilled levers and braided steel cables and brake lines. The internal wiring was really a pain but it was worth it. The comfort in driving is awesome.

Vi avevo promesso le foto della Crazyoils Special N.3. Eccola in tutto il suo splendore. Poca cosa in confronto ai tantissimi meravigliosi mezzi presenti al Motor Bike Expo di Verona, ma chi se ne frega. L'importante è che abbia fatto la sua bella figura allo stand della Westernbull. E cosa ancor più importante è che il costruttore ed il proprietario siano felici del risultato. Questo è quello che conta. Una colorazione unica ed innovativa, tanti piccoli accessori costruiti a mano, tante cromature, una trasformazione radicale, ed una sella ed una borsa marchiate Westernbull che si sposano perfettamente col il tema della moto.

I promised you the pics of the Crazyoils Special N.3. Here they are. It's not really that much compared to some of the beautiful bikes at the Motor Bike Expo in Verona, but who cares. The most important thing is that it stood proud at the Westernbull stand. And more important is that its owner and its builder are happy about it. This is what really matters. A unique paint job, lots of chrome, lots of hand made parts, a true conversion and a seat and a bag made by Westernbull that really match and enhance the style of the bike.

Domani porterò in fiera a Verona la nuova Crazyoils Special N.3 costruita al volo per lo stand di Westernbull al padiglione 3, dove la potrete ammirare in anteprima. Si ricomincia la settimana, e non di certo da seduti; ma dovete sedervi un minuto per gustarvi queste bellezze. Poi vedrete che ricomincierete a lavorare con uno spirito nuovo. Per quel che mi riguarda devo ultimare un progetto per la imminente fiera di Verona e magari finire anche un altro paio di lavoretti. Ci sarà da correre e sarà una settimana dura. Per questo bisogna partire con la marcia giusta.

It's gonna be a long hard week trying to finish a couple of jobs in time for the Verona Motor Bike Expo. That's why I need to start with the proper gear.

2007 XL883R COIL RELOCATION

Questi sono i lavoretti che mi danno soddisfazione. Cose semplici in cui bisogna, inventare, creare, costruire, risolvere problemi. Parliamo dello spostamento della bobina sulla XL883R di Paolo di Duecilindriblog. Ebbene sì, ancora lui! Ormai legati da un rapporto di amicizia e di fiducia ci divertiamo a vicenda a mettere mano al suo ferro per renderlo sempre migliore. Ma veniamo al problema in questione. Ripulire lo spazio tra canotto e serbatoio da plastiche e cablaggi ed allo stesso tempo migliorare il lato sinistro del motore dal punto di vista estetico riposizionando la bobina e la chiave di accensione. E' vero che i cataloghi offrono staffe già fatte ma perchè uniformarsi alla massa quando si può avere qualcosa di unico e personale? Perchè acquistare da un catalogo quando si può creare con il freddo metallo? Così mi armo di flessibile e saldatrice ed ecco a voi la sequenza della costruzione del supporto bobina, della staffa per l'ammotizzatore di sterzo, ed il risultato finale. Ancora una volta felici e soddisfatti entrambi. (Ca§§o, scritta così questa cosa è gaissima! Fancùlo! è troppo tardi per riscriverla).

These are the kind of works that I love to do. Easy stuff that requires creativity, passion and craftmanship. I had to relocate the coil on the XL883R of Paolo of Duecilindriblog. Yes, him again. It's just we are good friends and we love to play with his bike to make it better and better every day. Back to work. I had to clean the part underneat the gas tank and relocate the spark plug coil and the ignition key on the left side of the engine. I love to work with metal so there is no point in buying a bracket from an aftermarket parts catalog when I can build it myself. A grinder and a welding machine are enough. The pics show how I created the coil bracket and the steering damper bracket. The final result is simply great. We're both very happy with it.

2012 NEWS

Dopo un breve periodo di riposo si ricomincia con nuova energia questo 2012 che speriamo ci porti a vivere nuove ed appassionanti avventure. Siamo in pieno inverno, anche se di neve se ne è vista ben poca, ma la Befana ha già portato un bel po' di carbone da ardere nella fornace di Crazyoils. Sono, come lo scorso anno, alle prese con un progetto speciale da portare al Verona Bike Expo e da esporre allo stand dei miei amici di Westernbull. Personalmente sarò presente allo stand di Zodiac per dare un supporto al mio amico Vincenzo. Ma sarà una fiera importante e ricchissima di novità. A partire dalla presenza della FIC, Federazione Italiana Customizer, nella persona di Fabrizio Favre, e della IMBBA, International Master Bike Builders Association, nella persona di Jeff Starke. Assieme a queste due importantissime realtà ci saranno Master Bike Builder del calibro di Rick Fairless e di Mondo Porras che fungeranno da giudici ed esaminatori per bike show ed aspiranti giudici internazionali. Pertanto speriamo tanto di vederne delle belle. Buon anno a tutti quindi, ci vediamo in giro!

After a short vacation with my family I'm back again with new energy hoping that this 2012 will bring us new amazing adventures. We're in the middle of Winter and we didn't see that much snow yet. Crazyoils is already loaded with bikes and I'm currently working on a new project that will be exposed at the Westernbull stand at the Verona Bike Expo. I'll personally attend the show and will be present at the Zodiac stand for the whole time helping my friend Vincenzo. But it will be a show full of interesting events and important personalities. FIC, Federazione Italiana Customizers will be represented by Fabrizio Favre. IMBBA, International Master Bike Builders Association will be represented by Jeff Starke. And Master Bike Builders such as Rick Fairless and Mondo Porras will be judging the bike show and examining future international judges. So do not miss the event. Ed ecco pronto un altro gioellino. Oltre a filtro e doppia tromba visti nei giorni scorsi, ho aggiunto i blocchetti cromati degli strumenti con cablaggio interno del manubrio e tubazioni in treccia Goodridge e un bel kit Kuryakyn di luci a LED sotto il motore, giusto per rimanere in tema natalizio.

This bike is ready to go home after a little restyling. As you saw in the pevious posts I added a new air cleaner and horn but I also replaced the hand controls with some chrome ones, Goodridge brake lines and clutch cable and internal wiring inside the handlebar. To get the right X-Mas feeling I finally added a set of Kuryakyn LED lights inside the engine. Fun!

FILTRI ARIA - AIR CLEANERS

Stavo notando questa sera le moto che ho in lavorazione in questo momento. Non ce n'è una uguale all'altra ovviamente, ma tutte montano filtri driversi. C'è solo l'imbarazzo della scelta. Kuryakyn Hypercharger o HiFive, Screamin' Eagle, Roland Sands Design Venturi Seven, Drilled old school, D&M Spike. E questi sono solo alcuni esempi di quello che il mercato OEM ed aftermarket offrono.

This evening I was looking at the bikes in my service shop and noticed that they are all different, of course, but moreover they all display different air cleaners. Kuryakyn Hypercharger or HiFive, Screamin' Eagle, Roland Sands Design Venturi Seven, Drilled old school, D&M Spike. You only need to pick the right one for you among the hundreds that are available from the Factory or the aftermarket catalogs.

FLHRC HOWARD'S HOG HORN

Dopo aver montato il filtro Spike sulla Road King Classic del mio amico dovevo bilanciare il lato sinistro con qualcosa di importante. Ecco allora la scelta del clacson a doppia tromba della Howard's Hog Horns. il montaggio è abbastanza semplice in sè, il cablaggio elettrico un po' meno dal momento che bisogna quasi inventarselo per collegare il piccolo compressore nascosto sotto la campana del vecchio filtro. Non sapevo come fosse il risultato finchè non ho girato il blocchetto di accensione ed ho premuto il pulsante del clacson. Risultato: un timpano strappato e mal di testa per una notte. E' davvero una doppia tromba da stadio. Ora mi toccherà svuotare gli scarichi per compensare...

After installing the Spike air cleaner on the right side of my friend's FLHRC Road King Classic I had to take care of the left side and mount something special. The choice has been for a Howard's Hog Horn. Installation is quite simple, but wiring is a different stoy. It has a little air compressor hidden under the original horn cover. I did not know how it sounded until I switched the bike on and pressed the horn button. The result is amazing and almost blasted my ears and gave me a headache for the rest of the day. Now I have to modify the exhaust system to make it louder to compensate...

DUECILINDRI BLOG AL ROMBO DI TUONO

Questa moto mi pare di conoscerla. Ma certo! E' la bettina di Paolo di Duecilindri Blog. Presentata al bike show dei privati al Rombo di Tuono 2011. Domani tornerà sotto i ferri di Crazyoils per una nuova piccola modifica. Certo che deve avere una sella davvero speciale per far sorridere così quelle due pollastre!

I think I've seen this one already. Oh yeah it's the bike of Paolo of Duecilindri Blog. He took it to the amateur bike show at the Rombo di Tuono 2011. I'll see it again tomorrow because I'm gonna create a new special part for it. I guess it must be a very special seat that one. Those chicks are smiling too much!

D&M AIR SPIKE CLEANER AND SPACER

Questa è una cosina interessante. Prima di tutto diffidate delle imitazioni. Su Ebay si trovano filtri simili a cifre irrisorie. Lasciate perdere. Spesso sono di qualità e fattura scadenti. Questo è un filtro originale Spike della D&M. Costa, è vero, ma è fatto veramente bene. L'unico difetto è che non si può montare sui modelli dal 2008 in poi. Chissà perchè dico io, basta solo costruire la giusta flangia di adattamento. Prendiamo il disco di una vecchia mola. E' in una lega di alluminio indurita. Ci annotiamo qualche misura giusto per non fare le cose a caso, e poi sotto coi ferri. Tornio, trapano a colonna, fresa, lucidatrice. Così le abili mani di The Creech sotto la supervisione di Crazyoils, tra un mandarino ed un torroncino, hanno risolto il problema. Bello no?

This is something interesting. First of all don't trust the nice prices that you may find on Ebay. This is a real D&M Spike Air Cleaner. It's expensive, I know, but it's worth every penny. You can find nice deals for half of the price but they are cheap replicas and the quality is very poor. The only problem is that they don't make it for the 2008 up touring models. No big deal. We just need to create a spacer that can hold everything up. We took and old grind disc which is made of a hardened aluminium alloy. Put it on the lathe machine, drilled it, grinded it, shaped it and polished it. The Creech's skilled hands under the supervision of Crazyoils, with the help of a few chocolates and candies, once again have solved the problem. Cool isn't it?

I sorrisi... una delle cose più belle del modo. Sono circondato dalle moto. Road King, Ultra Limited, Street Glide, Rocker, Fat Boy, Ultra CVO. Non so più da che parte girami. Poi mi fermo e penso ai sorrisi delle mie ragazze e tutto cambia.

Arrivata or ora la nuova chicca. Sportster Custom Book Vol. 4. Devo ancora guardarmelo bene ma ad una prima occhiata ci sono cose interessantissime. Nonostante ci sia sempre da imparare, ed ogni giorno imparo qualcosa di nuovo nel mio lavoro, mi rendo conto delle infinite possibilità di preparazione di una moto, seppur partendo dalla stessa base. E mi rendo conto di quanta strada ci sia ancora da percorrere, una strada senza fine. E i giapponesi sono avanti a noi di un bel po'.

It arrived today. The Sportster Custom Book Vol. 4. I still need to read it carefully and pay attention to every detail, but at a first glance it seems the guys are kicking ass. I mean I know that there's always something new to learn and I understand more and more every day that there are infinite and endless possibilities of customization. The road is still long, it's never ending, but the Japanese bikers are a lot ahead of us.

Sono affascinato da queste macchine incredibili. Ci sono da anni in giro per il mondo. In Italia cominciano a vedersi, ma si contano sulle dita di una mano. Eppure ogni possessore di una Touring potenzialmente potrebbe sbizzarrirsi in infiniti modi di customizzazione del proprio mezzo per convertirlo in una bagger. Questi sono solo alcuni esempi. Non ci sono limiti alla creatività ed alla fantasia. Bisogna solo osare.

I'm fascinated by these incredible machines. They've been around for years now all over the World but here in Italy you can count them on the fingers of one hand. Un paio di mesi fa sono stato contattato per portare una moto ad un servizio fotografico. Quando mi sono presentato con la Bagger ho anche scoperto che il servizio era per il nuovo catalogo 2012, sito internet e campagna pubblicitaria dei caschi DMD. Ho trascorso alcune ore in ottima compagnia di due splendide modelle e dei miei amici Marlon e Marco Tattoo. Tra l'altro anche la Night Train di Marlon preparata da Crazyoils fa un gran bel figurone nelle foto. Grazie a DMD Helmets e a Omar, il fotografo che ha fatto uno splendido lavoro.

Two months ago they hired me to bring a nice bike to a photoshoot. When I arrived with my Bagger I found out that it was for the 2012 catalog, web site and ad campaign for DMD Helmets. I spent a few cool hours with two beautiful models and my friends Marlon and Marco Tattoo. In the pics you can also notice Marlon's rad Night Train which it has also been prepared by Crazyoils. Gli eventi degli ultimi mesi mi hanno costretto a limitare gli aggiornamenti del blog e del sito e ridurre il tempo dedicato alle foto degli amici. Soprattutto in questo caso, dove spesso e volentieri Paolo di Duecilindriblog viene a trovarci per apportare sempre nuove migliorie al suo mezzo e a chiedere consigli e delucidazioni; ma il tempo stringe e non riusciamo mai a fare delle foto decenti dei lavoretti. Ecco quindi un riassunto di qualche mese di progressi per una delle XL883R più belle e curate che ci siano in giro. Nuove frecce anteriori a LED in versione micro montate direttamente sul cupolino. Nuovo parafango anteriore nero e accorciato. Nuova copertura del filtro aria ricavata da un filtro di un vecchio Sportster, ma ovviamente modificata e rivista. Ed infine nuovo portatarga basso ed inclinato con stop e luce targa a LED omologato. La linea è decisamente cambiata in meglio, e c'è ancora tanto da fare!

The past few months have been really crazy for me and I had to slow down updating the blog and web site. Not enought time to take pics or to edit and upload them. Our friend Paolo of Duecilindriblog comes to visit us very often and has been upgrading his bike a lot. So this is what we added since the last update. Front micro LED turn signals directly mounted on the front spoiler. New front fender that has been shortened and powdercoated in vivid black. New old style Sportster air cleaner cover that has been modified and powdercoated in flat black. New low licence plate mount and LED taillight. Now the bike has more new nice little details and a smoother look in the back. And there's still a lot more to do.

CRAZYOILS ROCKSTER

Lo scorso mese, in soli tre giorni, abbiamo messo insieme la Crazyoils Rockster per il Rombo di Tuono. Messa in sieme in gran velocità ed in maniera assolutamente reversibile, semplicemente a scopo espositivo e per fare un piccolo esercizio di stile. Ideata sulla base della FXCW Rocker e modificata con l'aggiunta di un tocco di colore e di due pezzi di una Sportster che ci avanzavano. La sella ed il serbatoio. The Creech la mano e Crazyoils "demente" hanno unito i loro neuroni per ideare un sottosella assolutamente unico che fosse in grado di sostenere la sella mono dando allo stesso tempo un look sportivo e slanciato alla grossa Softail. Il colore giallo è nato dal ricordo del vecchio Fat Boy del '90 con le famose teste gialle e da qui è dilagato sul filtro Kuryakyn Hypercharger, sui cavi candele Accel, sul serbatoio King Size e sul sottosella, infiammando il grigio ed il nero di fondo che rendevano la moto forse un po' monotona ed impersonale, nonostante l'importantissimo avantreno. Il risultato ci ha entusiasmato seppur per un solo week-end. Infatti la Rocker ha già ripreso il suo aspetto originale anche se con qualche piccola modifica.

Last month we built up this Crazyoils Rockster in only three days just to display it at the Rombo di Tuono bike show. Actually we only took an FXCW Softail Rocker of a friend of ours and replaced a couple of parts with some Sportster ones. That's why the name Rockster. With the help of my pal The Creech we created a unique underseat mount to support the solo seat taken off a Nightster and at the same time to give a smooth look to the fat rear end of the Softail. Then we added a bit of yellow color here and there to the King Size gas tank, the Kuryakyn Hypercharger and the Accel spark plug wires. At the end we were very happy about the result even if only for a week-end. In fact the Rocker is already back to it's original shape, NOT.

Da oggi Crazyoils è il primo rivenditore autorizzato in Italia per Bad Dad Custom Motorcycle Finishes. Grazie alle splendide parti fornite da Bad Dad siamo riusciti a vincere il primo premio al KICK (Kampionato Italiano Costruttori Kustom) lo scorso ottobre al Rombo di Tuono con la nostra ormai famosa bagger "Faith & Gasoline". Attualmente abbiamo in lavorazione nuove bagger che monteranno ancora una volta parti Bad Dad. Ancora una volta abbiamo cercato di puntare al meglio.

From today on Crazyoils is the first official Dealer for Bad Dad Custom Motorcycle Finishes in Italy. Thanks to their beautiful parts we got first place at the Italian Custom Bike Builder Championships last October at the Rombo di Tuono show with our famous bagger "Faith & Gasoline". 2005 FLSTN SOFTAIL DELUXE

Alcuni piccoli lavoretti su questa FLSTN Softail Deluxe del 2005 per renderla un po' più personale ma soprattutto per migliorarne la guidabilità. Dopo un tagliando completo ed un controllo generale abbiamo sostituito i riser originali con un set di quelli più bassi modificando la posizione di guida. Tutto il cablaggio elettrico è stato portato all'interno del manubrio e le molle forcella sono state sostituite con un set di Progressive Suspension. L'iniezione elettronica è sparita per lasciare spazio d'azione ad un carburatore Mikuni HRS42 riutilizzando il filtro Screamin' Eagle con l'aggiunta di un coprifiltro tondo da 7". Infine abbiamo costruito un supporto speciale in alluminio per inclinare la targa mantenendo il faro tombstone originale. Piccoli dettagli per una moto di gran classe.

A few little things to make this 2005 FLSTN Softail Deluxe look and work better. After a full service and check up we replaced the OEM risers with some shorter ones and reinstalled the handlebar with all the internal wiring. The front suspension has been replaced with a set of Progressive Suspensions with heavy duty fork oil. No more EFI but a brand new Mikuni HRS42 carb with a Screamin' Eagle air cleaner and a 7" round cover. The licence plate is now at almost 45° over the tombstone taillight. A few little details for a nice looking bike with a classic style.

DZI è il nome di questa pietra. Una pietra sacra di antica origine tibetana. Ricavata dall'Agata, un minerale già di per sè considerato portatore di energia positiva. Poi venivano lavorate ed incise con motivi particolari che ne conferivano speciali poteri. Lo DZI con i denti di tigre come quello raffigurato mi è stato regalato da un mio carissimo amico di ritorno da un viaggio in Tibet come regalo di nozze. Tre anni fa decisi di indossarlo al collo e chi di voi mi conosce lo avrà notato. Il suo significato è di risolutezza, forza di volontà e purezza di cuore, protegge la salute e porta alla perfezione. Conferisce forza e determinazione nel superare gli ostacoli della vita e raggiungere i propri obiettivi. Beh, sarà forse una mia suggestione, ma pare che da quando porto al collo questo antico e mistico gioiello la mia vita familiare e soprattutto lavorativa siano nettamente migliorate. Ho cominciato da zero ed ho costruito quella che ora è Crazyoils, la mia attività, la mia passione, la mia visione del futuro. Mi piace pensare che sia stato anche grazie allo splendido regalo del mio amico.

DZI is the name of this stone. It's an ancient and sacred stone carved and used by the Tibetan monks for centuries. You can find it with many different patterns. Each one symbolizes something different but all of them are for good luck, health and fortune. The Tiger Tooth DZI that some of you may have noticed on my neck has been donated as a wedding gift a few years ago by a very good friend of mine that came back from Tibet. The meaning is willpower to overcome obstacles in life, good health and strenght, purity of heart and perfection. It may be something on my mind, but since I put it on my neck three years ago it seems that my life has changed so much for the good. I started from zero and now I work and live Crazyoils, which is my passion and my clear future. I like to think that it's also because of my friend's beautiful present if everything is going so well.

CRAZYOILS ROAD KING CLASSIC BAGGER SPECIAL N.2

Prima di partecipare al KICK (Campionato Italiano Costruttori Kustom) ho avuto modo di fare qualche piccola aggiunta alla Crazyoils Bagger Special N.2. Pochi piccoli dettagli che hanno contribuito a guadagnare punti in originalità e stile. A partire dall'impianto stereo della MHInstruments composto da due casse preamplificate da 100 watt l'una con riduttore di fruscio del motore incluse in due ex spot laterali che ho montato sul paramotore nascondendo il cablaggio all'interno di quest'ultimo. Abbiamo modificato le pedane originali allungandole nella parte posteriore ed aggiungendo due placchette in ottone rivettate che ne certificavano l'esclusiva fattura a mano. Il vecchio clacson è stato sostituito e nascosto all'interno di un filtro dell'aria cromato vecchio stile di modo che la moto sembra avere addirittura due filtri. E per finire, non poteva mancare un teschio, marchio di fabbrica Crazyoils. In questo caso vero, di un uccellino trovato in giardino, montato sun un supporto antivibrante ed inserito nel vano delle puntine e coperto da un oblò trasparente. I giudici hanno apprezzato.

Before attending the KICK event (the Italian Custom Bikebuilders Championhips) I had time to add a few little details to the Crazyoils Bagger Special N.2. First of all I installed a MHInstrumens Ultra stereo system with two pre-amplified 100 watt speakers mounted inside two ex-spot lamps. The wiring is internal into the engine guard. We took the old floorboards and extended them in the heel side. After being powdercoated in burgudy I added two brass plates that certify that they are hand made. I replaced the old horn with a new one mounted inside an old school chrome air cleaner. It looks like the bike has two air cleaners now. Cool. And finally I had to add a skull to the bike. It's a tradition by Crazyoils. This time it's a real skull of a little bird that I found in the backyard. I placed a small rubber pad behind it and put everything behind the points cover that is made of a Lexan little window. I guess judges really liked the crazy idea.

Su Low Ride di questo mese, uscito da pochi giorni in edicola, il servizio sulla bagger Crazyoils. Un'altra tappa è stata raggiunta nel nostro percorso di crescita. Ma non ci fermeremo qui. Non siamo in cerca di gloria. Vogliamo solo fare il nostro lavoro e farlo al meglio delle nostre capacità. Se poi gli amici di Low Ride ci vogliono dare un piccolo spazio sulle loro pagine di tanto in tanto ci fa solo piacere.

There's a nice piece on the Crazyoils bagger on this month's Low Ride, out in the newstands in these days. It's another small step in our career but we won't stop working hard everyday. Not for the glory but just because we love what we do. We'd like to thank our friends at Low Ride that give us exposure every now and then.

KICK 2011 - THE CREECH VERSION

FLHRCI Road King Classic del 2006: qualche mila euri con la famosissima carta di credito. Trasformarla nella CRAZYOILS ROAD KING CLASSIC BAGGER SPECIAL N.2: quasi altrettanti mila euri. Esordio ufficiale, con la nostra prima bagger ed essere Campioni Italiani nella Categoria Touring: NON HA PREZZO! Siamo proprio gli ultimi arrivati nel magico e stupefacente mondo del kustom (con la k, proprio sì), ed eravamo lì, in mezzo a mostri sacri, a gente leggendaria che sembra appartenere ai racconti delle Terre di Mordor e che invece scopri che esistono per davvero, che le moto che preparano ci sono, non sono miraggi, non sono il frutto di vaneggiamenti. Ci sono e sono incredibilmente pheegherrime in una scala da 0 a Olivia Wilde (cit. Doc Manatthan). Eppure eravamo lì, chiamati ad esibire la nostra "Faith & Gasoline", tutto grazie a Joe, che ci ha fatto il regalo più grande che si possa ricevere: la fiducia. E già non capivamo niente di quello che stava succedendo, non avevamo idea di che cosa avremmo scatenato. I giudici che ti girano attorno alla moto, che vanno a guardare ogni piccolissimo dettaglio, che scoprono i segreti che pensavi di aver magistralmente celato o che pensavi mai sarebbero fregati a nessuno, i flash di mille mila fotografi, improvvisati e non, che contribuiscono a stordirti ancora di più di quello che già normalmente sei. Poi ti senti invitare ad accendere la moto per avvicinarti al palco. Fai sfilare la tua moto in mezzo a quelle leggende di cui si parlava solo poche righe fa, certo della sua bellezza di cui sei innamorato. Ma quanto varrà mai il tuo giudizio al confronto di quello di giudici internazionali che sanno esattamente come deve essere la moto più bella del mondo. Sali sul palco con il tuo sfidante, che è esattamente come te, anzi ha almeno una quindicina di anni di esperienza più di te... E poi senti: "Nella categoria Touring vince "Faith & Gasoline" di Crazyoils". Non ci puoi credere, un sogno a cui sinceramete solo 15 giorni prima neanche pensavamo. Si vabbè, quanta retorica inutile, quanto di già sentito, siamo seri e restiamo con i piedi per terra. Siamo arrivati qui da ultimi, con umiltà, e concorderete con noi, altrimenti sareste in errore, che in assoluto siamo noi i più umili al mondo. Non è tutto merito nostro, non tutto ma una buona fetta sì però, quantificabile in percentuale a quello che la colorazione fa di una moto. Insomma, il nostro è un connubio, una jointventure, per essere un po' più internazionali. Parte tutto da un sogno, quello di chi con coraggio, ma a ragione (chi siamo noi per dargli torto) affida alle nostre mani la sua moto, confida i suoi sogni, racconta i suoi "mi piacerebbe", spiega i suoi "vorrei". Al resto pensa l'appassionato cuore di Francesco, e la sua innata dote di vedere già nella sua testa quale sarà il risultato. Musica non è solo il susseguirsi di mirabili arpeggi o appassionanti assoli, è l'armoniosa melodia che nasce una nota dopo l'altra, ben chiara nella mente e nelle orecchie del compositore e magistralmente guidata dalla bacchetta di un direttore. Qualcuno ha dichiarato "Faith & Gasoline" come la più bella e meglio realizzata bagger tra quelle iscritte a questo Kampionato (sempre con la K, sì vabbè). Da adesso spetta a noi l'arduo e bellissimo compito di dimostrare, giorno dopo giorno che ne siamo davvero capaci. Volete la vera verità? La volete sentire davvero? Beh: pensavamo di fare un po' meglio di primi! ;-) E' così. Punto. Blog. Spegnete tutto, la festa è finita, al lavoro.

The Creech

2006 FLHRCI Road King Classic: a few thousand Euros with the famous credit card. ROAD KING CLASSIC CRAZYOILS BAGGER SPECIAL # 2: almost as many thousand Euros. Official debut with our first bagger and becoming Italian Champions in the Touring Category is PRICELESS! We just landed in the amazing World of Kusom (yes with the K) and we were there in between sacred heroes, amog legendary characters that weem to belong to the Land of Mordor tales. Well they are for real, and their bikes are for real too, they're not mirages or some sort of crazy dreams. They exhist and they are incredibly super cool in a zero to Olivia Wilde scale. And we were there, ready to show the World our "Faith & Gasoline". All of this thanks to Joe that believed and put his faith in us. We couldn't understand what was going on and we did not realize what was happening. Judges were walking around our bike, looking for every single detail or defect, trying to catch all the secrets of our work. Thousands of flashes of professional and occasional photographers contribute to stun you more and more. Then the organizer call you up on stage to show your bike under the lights. You suddenly find yourself among the previous legends conscious of the beauty of your bike. But what's the value of your emotions compared to the scoring of International Judges that know exactly what real beauty is? You drive up on stage side to side with another customizer that is at least fiftheen years more experienced than you. And the you hear. "In the Touring Class the Winner is... "Faith & Gasoline" by Crazyoils". You can't believe your ears. It's a dream that we didn't even think of two weeks ago. Well, ok, let's fly down. Let's keep our feet on the ground. We were the last ones to enter this Worls, in a very humble way. You must agree with us otherwise you will be wrong that we are absolutely the most humble people in the Universe. It's not all up to us. Not all but a good part is. Everything begins with a dream, a dream of someone that with righteous courage puts his bike into our hands, tells us about his deams and likes and explains his desires. The rest is up to Francesco's passion and his skill to foresee in his mind what the result is going to be. Music is not only made of solos and arpeggios. Il tempo vola ed il Rombo di Tuono sembra ormai quasi un ricordo lontano. Questo è il modesto stand Crazyoils a poche ore dall'evento. Tre moto firmate da noi, tre stili diversi ma che si accomunano in alcuni dettagli. Un piccolo gazebo, un tavolo e tre sedie. Non c'era bisogno di altro per questa primissima esperienza in veste di espositori e preparatori. Un'esperienza che ci è piaciuta moltissimo, che ci ha stancato, e che ci è servita non solo a farci conoscere un pochino di più ma a crescere nel nostro percorso di vita. Perchè quello che facciamo è la nostra vita.

Time flies and the Rombo di Tuono seems to be already a good memory. This is our humble stand a few hours before the beginning of the event. Three bikes, three different styles but with some details in common. A small booth, a table and three chairs. We didn't need anything else for this very first experience as official customizers. We loved this experience. It has been exhausting but it helped us to get more exposure and to grow in our path of life. Yes, because what we do is our life.

In vista del Rombo di Tuono abbiamo chiesto ad un nostro amico di prestarci la sua moto da esporre allo stand Crazyoils, previa qualche piccola modifica. Così abbiamo preso la sua FXCW Rocker e l'abbiamo trasformata in una ROCKSTER aggiungendo la sella di un Nightster ed un serbatoio peanut king size da 12 litri. Filtro Kuryakyn Hypercharger modificato e fasce gialle sulle teste un po' per darle un look sportivo, un po' per rievocare il mitico Fat Boy teste gialle del '90. Il sotto sella ovviamente ce lo siamo inventato. Non è ancora finita, ma abbiamo ancora quattro giorni per divertirci.

While waiting for the Rombo di Tuono Show we asked a friend of us to give us his bike to display it in our booth at the event. But first we had to do some minor changes. So we took his FXCW Rocker and converted it in what we call a ROCKSTER. We added a Nightster solo seat and a peanut king size gas tank. The air cleaner is a modified Kuryakyn Hypercharger and we painted the lifter blocks of the heads in racing yellow to give it a more racing look and to pay homage to the glorious 1990 Fat Boy. Of couse the under seat pan and mounts are handmade by the Crazyoils Team. Still four days before the show. We've got plenty of time to play with it!

2006 FXDB DYNA STREET BOB COLORS TATTOO

Se devo pensare al bello del nostro lavoro direi che gli aspetti più stimolanti e gratificanti sono la nostra creatività e l'entusiasmo dei nostri amici. Questa Dyna Street Bob è arrivata di ritorno da Faaker See che era una crosta di fango. Marco, il suo propietario ci ha chiesto di sistemare la staffa della borsa e montare un apehanger da 14", tutto nero opaco con cavi neri. Fin qui niente di nuovo, ma man mano che mettevamo mano alla moto scoprivamo piccoli pasticci creati da qualcuno prima di noi. Bulloni metrici inseriti in filetti in pollici, cablaggi elettrici attaccati per miracolo, verniciature sommarie a bomboletta, perfino una bussola da 13 ancora incastrata in un dado del collettore posteriore! Perchè? Basta così poco per fare le cose fatte bene. Quando abbiamo ridato la moto a Marco il suo entusiasmo ci ha commosso. Certo siamo andati un po' fuori dalle sue richieste, ma anche ben oltre le sue aspettative. Piastre forcella, riser, faro, leve, tutto nero opaco. Sabbiato sissibar e piastre e riverniciato tutto sempre nero opaco. Riscostruito sottosella ed attacchi, abbassando la linea della moto e rendendola più comoda. Ricostruito la staffa della borsa ed aggiunto uno speciale cuscinetto anti sfregamento. Sistemato l'impianto elettrico, ed infine lavato bene la moto dalla crosta di fango. Semplicemente non potevamo sopportare l'idea di avere sotto il naso dei lavori fatti male o fatti a metà. Alcune ore dopo ricevo una chiamata di Marco. Stava ancora girando in moto in preda all'entusiasmo. Ancora ringraziamenti e complimenti. Per cosa? Un po' di nero, due bulloni nuovi, tanta passione? Semplicemente ci piace fare le cose fatte bene. E se a voi piacciono i tatuaggi andate a trovarlo da Colors Tattoo a Milano, credo che lui sia molto più bravo di noi in fatto di arte e creatività.

What I like about this job is the freedom of creativity and the enthusiasm of our friends. This Dyna Street Bob arrived a week ago from Faaker See and it was covered with mud and dirt. Marco, its owner, asked us to install a 14" black apehanger and fix the saddlebag mount. Well while working on the bike we found out that many little things were wrong. Metric bolts intro the wrong threads, bad wirings, rusty paintjobs. We simply couldn't stand it. It is so easy to do things in the proper way. Well, when Marco came to pick up his bike he couldn't believe his eyes. Of course we did what he asked for but we went a bit further. We powdercoated the triple trees, risers, clamp, lever and headlight in flat black. Same for the sissybar and side plates. We created a new underseat plate with springs and hinge and a new saddlebag mount with a special bearing to save the bag's back. New wirings for all the turn signals. A full check on the bike and a nice wash. He was stoked. After a few hours I got a call from Marco. He was still riding around and kept thanking us for the nice job. What? We didn't do that much. Just did the things the right way with lots of passion. If you like art and tattos go and visit Marco at his Colors Tattoo Studio in Milan. I'm sure he's much better than us in matter of creativity and passion.

E tra una moto e l'altra è arrivata pure la vecchia Fiat 500 di un amico. Un vero gioiellino. Una breve visita solo per montare dei cavi candele Taylor da 8mm super performanti. Un'altra piccola soddisfazione.

While working on my bikes I received a visit of a new friend with a super cool old Fiat 500. I replaced the old spark plug cables with a brand new set of Taylor 8mm silicone pro wires. Isn't it a nice little monster?

Alla fine questa sera mi sono guardato indietro ed ho visto quello che mi attende domani. Un bel casino, ma mi diverto da morire!

I've been converting a nice FXDC Dyna Superglide Custom 105th anniversary from EFI to a Mikuni HRS42 carburator. I've modified an old Kuryakyn Hypercharger. I've been creating new parts and hadn't enough time to take care of this blog. Sorry about that. Last night I looked back and realized that another busy day is coming up. I'm so excited 'cause I love this job. What the hell!

Ragazzi, è ufficiale. Crazyoils sarà presente al Rombo di Tuono 2011 con il proprio stand e con tre splendide moto, e parteciperà al suo primo Kampionato Italiano Costruttori Kustom. E' stata una decisione degli ultimi giorni, una ulteriore sfida, nella volontà di crescere a livello personale in esperienza, e nella ferma convinzione di portare avanti il nostro progetto di vita, oggi con una motivazione in più. Eccellere sempre. Vogliamo e pretendiamo da noi stessi di lavorare al meglio, curando ogni dettaglio e cercando di non lasciare mai nulla al caso, perchè desideriamo che le vostre moto, come le nostre, che sia un semplice manubrio o che sia una full bagger, siano curate nei minimi particolari come se dovessero partecipare ad un bike show. Sempre. Solo così possiamo ancora migliorare e avvicinarci piano piano a quella eccellenza che viene richiesta dagli standard internazionali. A fare le cose fatte bene o fatte male ci si mette lo stesso tempo, a farle meglio ci si mette veramente poco di più, ma è infinitamente più gratificante. Ecco quindi il nostro debutto ufficiale nel mondo dei preparatori italiani ed il nostro buon proposito per il futuro. Ci vediamo tra un paio di settimane. Venite a trovarci per un saluto e quattro chiacchiere. Non avremo molto da offrirvi se non un sorriso e tutta la nostra disponibilità.

Crazyoils will be officially attending the "Rombo di Tuono" bike show in the middle of October. It is going to be our first official event and Bike Show and we are going to display three beautiful bikes that will be competing for the firts Italian Bike Building Competition. Fun! We are very excited about this. It's time for us to show the world what we can do and to ourserlves that we can do it better, or at least we try. While studying the rules of the international bike shows we realized that every detail matters. Every single nut and bolt has its place in the whole project and cannot be rusty or messed up. That's why from now on we want to seek for excellence in all our works. We always tried to do things in the best way we could. We know we can still improve a lot. We want every bike to be taken care of as if it has to attend an international bike show. So it doesn't matter if you want a new handlebar or a full bagger. We will do the job the best way. Period. That's the only way for us to get better and better and find satisfacion in our work. It takes just a little more effort, no big deal. But at the end you will be happy and we will be proud. Oggi mi sveglio e mia moglie mi dice che è il primo giorno di autunno. Fa ancora caldo in realtà e si sta bene senza tanti stracci addosso, ma solo all'idea delle stagione fredda in arrivo mi viene voglia di starmene al calduccio sotto le coperte in buona compagnia.

This morning I woke up and my wife said that it's the first day of Autumn. It's still pretty warm outside and my girl still looks great without too many clothes on but the idea of the new cold season comin' up makes me turn around and stay in bed in good company.

SPORTSTER HEAD GASKESTS

A volte può accadere che una guarnizione di una testa del motore trafili olio. Se è solo un trasudamento, poco male. E' nella norma, specialmente dopo tanti chilometri percorsi. Ma se si tratta di un vero e proprio sgocciolamento, allora è il caso di intervenire. Basta un set di guranizioni nuove, di alta qualità, e un paio d'ore di pazienza. Per fare le cose fatte bene ho voluto ripulire perfettamente le superfici delle parti interessate prima di riposizionare le nuove guarnizioni. Dopo aver chiuso tutte le viti con una chiave dinamometrica, il piccolo motore Sportster è tornato come nuovo.

Sometimes it happens that a head gasket leasks. It is normal to occur in a minor leakage, especially after many miles and years of hard riding. But if the leakage gets too generous it is time to replace the head gaskets with some new and higher quality ones. That's what I did on this Sportster. After cleaning all the surfaces on all the parts, I replaced all the gaskets and then tightened all the bolts with a torque wrench. Now the small Evo engine looks like new.

Ecco come si presenta il nuovo portatarga Crazyoils costruito apposta per sostituire il precedente laterale su questo Nightster. Un oggetto semplice che mantiene le linee pulite e l'estetica un po' rude e un po' retrò di questo mezzo.

This is the new licence plate bracket that we had to create to replace the previous side mounted one. It's a simple accessory that keeps the look clean and mean on a Nightster that is a bit a rat and a bit an old school bike.

2008 XL1200N NIGHTSTER

Era un po' di tempo che volevo pubblicare le foto di questa moto. Ed è un po' di tempo che latito. Sapete... le meritate vacanze... Beh, sono tornato. Ed anche il Nightster è tornato. Libretto ritirato per scarichi non omologati e portatarga laterale visibilmente artigianale, anche se rispecchiante le normative del codice stradale. Così abbiamo rimontato gli scarichi originali e abbiamo costruito un nuovo portatarga centrale che attualmente è in verniciatura e presto andrà a rimpiazzare quello laterale. Detto ciò, siamo molto soddisfatti anche di questo piccolo lavoretto. Esempio di come con poco si possa fare tanto. A parte aver tagliato, saldato e riverniciato il parafango posteriore ed averlo riposizionato più basso sulla ruota, abbiamo creato ad hoc alcuni pezzettini che vanno a completare l'opera di snellimento ed imbastardimento di questo XL1200N. Staffe rigide Biltwell al posto degli ammortizzatori posteriori. Portatarga laterale. Tutte le luci sono omologate, persino le nuove Kellermann a led a doppia funzione, proprio come le originali del Nightster ma decisamente più filanti. Sella Diamond White della Biltwell, non più in produzione, con sottosella Crazyoils e due molle cromate, unico sistema di ammortizzazione. Il serbatoio è stato rialzato e lo spazio sotto di esso svuotato da plastiche e cablaggi. La bobina è stata riposizionata, così come lo strumento ed il blocchetto d'accensione. Anche il cavalletto è stato tagliato e parzialmente ricostruito. Infine abbiamo ripulito anche l'avantreno con un bel manubrio Biltwell abbinato a manopole bianche a botticella ricostruite da Crazyoils, leve dei comani tagliate e forate, e staffa del faro anch'essa tutta originale Crazyoils che sostiene un bel faro bullet da 4". Una street racer a metà tra moderno ed old school.

It's been a while since my last post on the blog. I've been on vacation, you know... Well now I'm back. Back on this Nightster again. We had to replace mufflers and the side mounted licence plate because they seem not to be street legal. Bullshit! Anyway. We are very proud of this little bike too. It's a nice example of a good looking bike at a low budget. We cut, welded and lowered the rear fender. Replaced the rear shocks with some nice Biltwell struts. Added a White Diamond Biltwell seat with a Crazyoils underseat pan and chrome springs. Raised gas tank and cleaned it underneath. That's to say we moved the coil on the side of the frame, relocated the instrumentation and ignition switch. This gives the bike a nice and mean look. Finally we added a cool Bilwell handlebar, cut and drilled the hand levers and created a super cool headlight bracket that holds a 4" headlight right in the middle of the triple trees. It's a street racer in between modern and old school style.

To bend and weld a few pieces of steel takes little effort. To be able to leave for your vacation on your bike with two nice old saddlebags is priceless, especially if it's a Rocker.

Un'altra piccola creazione di Westernbull. Avevo bisogno di una borsa porta attrezzi per la mia Sporty Special. Ovviamente mi sono costruito un supporto che resta completamente nascosto. Parto per le vacanze tranquillo e con un po' di spazio in più nella borsa.

This is another little creation by Westernbull. I needed a tool bag where to store my tools. I creted a special hidden bracket and now I'm ready to go on vacation with a little more room in my big bag.

POMPA RADIALE DISCACCIATI - DISCACCIATI RADIAL MASTER CYLINDER

Non contenti dell'impianto frenante Discacciati montato sulla Rocker abbiamo completato l'opera con una pompa radiale sempre prodotta da Discacciati garantendo la massima frenata possibile con il minimo sforzo. Ovviamente anche l'estetica si abbina perfettamente a questa Softail super sportiva.

We were not completely satisfied by the incredible Discacciati brake system and we decided to add a brand new Discacciati radial master cylinder to complete the job. Now this high tech Softail stops like a super bike. Clean, fast and safe and it looks really cool too.

FXCW ROCKER PROJECT: DISCACCIATI & JONICH

Ci piace osare, ci piace sognare, ci piace creare. Se poi i nostri amici si fidano e credono in noi, la magia diventa realtà. Questa FXCW Softail Rocker l'avete gia vista in passato. A più riprese è stata modificata, ma oggi può vantare un avantreno assolutamente unico ed esclusivo. Parliamo di un cerchio Jonich ad 80 raggi, anodizzato nero al quale si aggiunge un impianto frenante Discacciati composto da ben due dischi flottanti neri da 330mm e due pinze a sei pistoni. Le tubazioni sono Goodridge. Ma la parte divertente è stata convertire la forcella da uno a due dischi. Abbiamo utilizzato parti originali H-D di un VRSCDX pur tuttavia creando dei supporti speciali Crazyoils per le pinze e modificando pesantemente il parafango anteriore per adattarlo ai nuovi foderi. All'interno degli steli un kit di molle Progressive Suspension, mentre piastre e comandi del manubrio sono stati riverniciati in nero. Il risultato è davvero appagante.

We like to dare, we like to dream, we like to create. And if our friends believe in us, the magic becomes reality. You've already seen this FXCW Softail Rocker in the past. We've done some works on it. But today it has an amazing brand new front end. We're talking about an 80 spokes Jonich black anodized wheel and an outstanding Discacciati brake system composed by two black 330mm floating rotors and two six piston brake calipers. The oil line is by Goodridge. But the fun part was to convert the stock single disc fork into a dual disc one. To do that we used some OEM H-D parts taken from a VRSCDX but still we had to create the calipers supports and drastically modify the front fender to adapt it to the new fork sliders. Inside the fork tubes we used a Progressive Suspension kit while we powdercoated in black the triple trees and the handlebar controls. We are stoked about the result.

2006 BLACK FLHTCU - ANOTHER BLACK HARLEY

Un'altra Harley nera. Non è una protesta nè tantomeno una lamentela. Di Harley nere ce ne sono a migliaia. Alcune sono più nere di altre. Abbiamo solo aggiunto nero al nero in un progetto low budget. A parte scarichi e motore ed alcuni piccoli dettagli, tutti i particolari cromati di questa Ultra Classic Electra Glide sono stati riverniciati in nero lucido a polvere. Dai fregi dei parafanghi, ai supporti dei fanali, alle forcella, al paramotore e ai paraborse, e perfino pedane e console, tutto è diventato nero. E l'effetto non è affatto male.

Another Black Harley. This is not a complaint. There are tons of black Harleys. Some of them are even blacker. This is the case of this Ultra Classic Electra Glide. Every chromed part but the engine, exhaust and a few little details has been powder coated in vivid black. Bumpers, fairings, saddlebag guards, even the handlebar and levers, floorboards and foot controls. Everything is black on black. And it looks real good.

Sono diversi giorni che non posto foto. Purtroppo la mia famiglia ha richiesto la mia attenzione più del solito. Va bene così. Ma questo non vuol dire che io non abbia lavorato a nuovi interessanti progetti. Tra questi oggi abbiamo montato delle splendide borse Lucky custom made della Westernbull su una Moto Guzzi California Special del 2002. Ovviamente abbiamo costruito degli speciali attacchi, molto semplici e poco invasivi, ma che sostengono perfettamente la coppia di borse. Mi rivolgo a tutti voi Guzzisti che non avete borse o che non sapete come fissarle alla vostra moto. Possiamo studiare la soluzione più adatta a voi.In questo caso specifico, presto anche sella e schienale verranno rivestiti in cuoio in abbinamento alle borse.

I haven't been posting for a while. It's just that my family needed some attention. No big deal. This doesn't mean that I stopped working on various projects. This one is a 2002 Moto Guzzi California Special and we mounted a beautiful pair of custom made Lucky saddlebags by Westernbull. Of course we created some special supports that fit perfectly on the bike and hold the bags firmly. To all of you Guzzi fans out there. If you need some nice saddlebags or you just don't know how to attatch them to your bike, well, we've got the solution for you. Next step will be a matching leather seat and sissybar pillion.

A DIFFERENT NIGHT TRAIN

A volte è bello sperimentare, osare, inventare, risolvere problemi. E' forse la cosa che ci appassiona e ci stimola di più. E basta davvero poco. Ovviamente occorre anche un po' di materia prima. In questo caso un bel Night Train nuovo nuovo. Gli avevamo già fatto qualche lavoretto in passato. Nei mesi si sono aggiunti un cerchio posteriore a raggi, una primaria aperta, una conversione a carburatore. Ma c'era ancora qualche piccolo ritocco da fare. Un filtro ovale un po' retrò ed un po' racing che, opportunamente modificato, si abbina perfettamente ad un Mikuni ben carburato. Una pinza Brembo serie oro posteriore, a compensare quella anteriore che avevamo già adattato. In questo caso è stato divertente inventarsi supporto e rinvio. Il tubo freno è ovviamente in treccia della Goodridge. Il nostro amico voleva una griglia metallica sulla primaria aperta ed eccolo accontentato. Bastano un tondino di ferro, una griglia, flessibile e saldatrice. La verniciatura a polvere nera lucida completa l'opera. Per concludere due micro specchi della Rebuffini sul manubrio e un profilo da indiano di una replica di una moneta da 5 Cent sul timing cover. Direi che il risultato non è affatto male.

We love to dare, to create, to solve problems. We do it with passion and we think it's very exciting. This time we concentrated our energies on this Night Train. We already did some works on it in the past. Then some new chages have been added. An open primary belt, a spoked rear wheel, a carburator convertion. But there were still details and problems that needed our attention. An old oval air cleaner gives a generous amount of air to the the Mikuni carb. The gold series Brembo rear brake caliper matches perfectly with the front one. The caliper support is of course handmade by Crazyoils. The same is for the open primary belt guard. Bented, welded, grinded by our hands. Two micro Rebuffini mirrors and a replica of a 5 Cent coin on the timing cover complete our work, at lest for now. And I guess we're happy with it.

Ecco i dischi speciali da 330mm creati da Discacciati per la Bagger Crazyoils. Ora finalmente l'impianto frenante è completo e di tutto rispetto. Mancano solo la verniciatura ed alcuni piccoli dettagli e spero in pochi giorni di vederla finita e in strada.

Here they are. Finally the custom rotors that Discacciati created for the Crazyoils Bagger are on and spinning. Now the bike is getting her body painted. A few more details and soon it will be ready to hit the road.

La linea, le curve, l'avantreno, per non parlare di scarichi, filtro, motore, con quei due enormi cilindri in bella mostra. Ogni dettaglio mi colpisce, ancora oggi dopo tanti anni che le osservo. E mi appassionano sempre...

I like to look at every side of things. Let's take a look at the right side of our bikes for example. I love the lines, the front end, the air filter and the exhaust system. The engine stands out with those two huge cylinders. Every detail hits my attention, even now after so many years that I look at them. And I love them all...

Un piccolo aggiornamento sul Night Train di un amico che dall'alto di un apehanger da 16" ha optato per una misura più morigerata. Direi che ci sta bene. In passato gli avevamo già modificato ed accorciato il parafango posteriore ed abbassato la forcella anteriore con un kit Progressive Suspension.

We made a little update to the Night Train of a friend of ours. We replaced the previous 16" apehanger with a shorter one. It looks pretty nice. In the past we already modified the rear fender and lowered the front end with a Progressive Suspension kit.

I giri più belli sono quelli che nascono per caso. Tutto si decide in una notte ed il mattino dopo, di buon ora, si è già in strada. Mio "fratello" aveva bisogno di staccare dalla realtà ed ossigenarsi il cervello. Non potevo non accompagnarlo. Così mollata famiglia ed impegni vari mi sono ritrovato a passare il confine svizzero a Chiasso. Poi una piacevole autostrada fino a Lugano e Bellinzona. Da lì si omincia a salire. Prima tappa il Passo del San Bernardino (2065m). Da qui il tempo che avrebbe dovuto promettere sole e caldo invece si è trasformato in freddo e nuvole. Poco male. Si procede per la Via Mala, un canyon profondo oltre 300m sull'alto Reno già percorso in tempi antichi dai Romani. Splendido. Si ritorna a salire sull'Albula Pass (2312m). Incredibile. Si rientra in Italia per Livigno ed il successivo Passo del Foscagno (2292m) e poi giù a Bormio, Santa Caterina Valfurva e su al Passo del Gavia (2621m). Una discesa a strapiombo ci porta a Ponte Di Legno. I successivi Passo del Tonale (1884m) e Passo Campo Carlo Magno (1681m) sono poca cosa in confronto ai precedenti. Dodici ore di viaggio con una sola ora di sosta. Non so quante migliaia di curve e metri di dislivello. Pioggia, freddo, persino nevischio. Un pasto caldo ed un letto a Madonna di Campiglio ci rigenerano per il giorno seguente. Mattino da favola sulle Dolomiti del Brenta. Scendiamo al Lago d'Idro e da qui risaliamo lungo una vecchia strada miltirare immersa nei boschi al Passo Baremone (1450m) e poi restiamo in quota fino al Passo Maniva (1800m) e al Passo Crocedomini (1892m). Una strada sterrata di una decina di chilometri collega questi ultimi due. Immaginatevi a percorrerla con un vecchio Sporty rigido! Si scende e si attraversa la Val Camonica per l'ultimo Passo della Presolana (1297m). Ormai tornanti e curve di ogni genere ci sembrano quasi una passeggiata. Si ritorna a casa dopo altre dieci ore di viaggio. Ma che spettacolo!!!

The best rides are the ones that you plan in a night. My bro wanted to go for a little tour. I couldn't let him go alone. So I cancelled all my appointments for the week-end, left my wife at home with the girls and all of a sudden I found myself crossing the Swiss border. The twelve hours of the first day saw the two of us going up and down the Alps through the following passes: Passo del San Bernardino (2065m - 6775ft), Albula Pass (2312m - 7585ft), Passo del Foscagno (2292m - 7520ft), Passo del Gavia (2621m - 8600ft), Passo del Tonale (1884m - 6181ft) e Passo Campo Carlo Magno (1681m - 5515ft). The day was supposed to be nice. We got cold, rain and a bit of snow instead. We had a great dinner and spent the night in Madonna di Campiglio. The day after was warm and sunny and the Dolomites looked awesome. More passes for another ten hours ride: Passo Baremone (1450m - 4757ft), Passo Maniva (1800m - 5905ft), Passo Crocedomini (1892m - 6207ft), Passo della Presolana (1297m - 4255ft). What a great week-end, what a beautiful ride!!!

Alla richiesta di trasformare un Night Train con un mega ape in una moto sportiva e cattiva stile Sons Of Anarchy non ci siamo tirati indietro. Una serie di pezzi di recupero per limitare le spese, il manubrio l'abbiamo costruito noi, il cupolino Arlen Ness lo abbiamo adattato e modificato. Un gran bel mezzo per correre insieme agli Angeli.

A friend of ours asked us to convert his Night Train with a huge ape hanger into a fast and mean bike like the ones of Sons Of Anarchy. Well it's been a pleasure. We used some extra parts that we had on the shelf, we created the drag bar and modified the Arlen Ness fairing. Now it's a great bike to ride with the Angels.

MULLER POWER CLUTCH

Ecco la Muller Power Clutch. Un kit di facile installazione per ridurre lo sforzo della leva frizione addirittura del 40%. Notate come le piste delle sfere siano più ravvicinate al centro ed il gancio che tiene il fermo del cavo frizione sia leggermente più lungo dell'originale in modo da garantire una leva maggiore con minor sforzo. La vostra frizione è troppo dura? Pensateci!

This is the Muller Power Clutch. It's an easy to install kit that reduces the clutch strength by 40%. Notice that the balls tracks are closer to the center and the hook is a bit longer. This helps to increase the leverage and reduces the strenght of the pull. Is your clutch too hard for you? Think about installing a Muller Power Clutch.

SPORTSTER DRILLED SHORT LEVERS

Ne abbiamo già fatte tante. Ma quelle corte sono una novità. Avete le leve rotte, piegate o graffiate? Non buttatele. Tutto si può utilizzare. Queste le abbiamo tagliate, forate e riverniciate. Ed ecco il risultato. La leva del freno si raggiunge meglio e le dita sono sempre pronte in caso di frenata. La leva della frizione permette cambi marcia più veloci, meglio se abbinata ad un kit di riduzione sforzo tipo il Muller Power Clutch.

We've made lots of these. But the short ones are fairly new. Are your levers broken, bent or scratched? Do not throw them away. This is a great way to use them. We cut them, we drilled them, we powdercoated them and this is the result. The brake lever is easier to find and more responsive. The clutch lever helps to shift gear faster, especially if you install a Muller Power Clutch kit.

Finalmente la famigereata moto di Paolo di DuecilidriBlog è finita sulle pagine di LowRide di luglio. Due facciate, quattro foto, un breve articoletto. Forse la moto di Paolo non ha ricevuto l'attenzione sperata, ma non importa. E' stata pubblicata su una rivista nazionale, anzi, sulla Rivista più importante del nostro ambiente. E' anche vero che gli amici di Crazyoils ed i lettori di Duecilindri la conoscono da lungo tempo e ne hanno seguito le modifice passo per passo. Noi siamo contenti per Paolo, e un pochino orgogliosi perchè se la sua moto è così è anche opera di Crazyoils.

Finally Paolo's Sportster is on a magazine. Actually the most important custom magazine in Italy: LowRide. Two pages, four pics, a few lines. Maybe it didn't receive the attention that Paolo was expecting, but hey, it's on paper. And who really cares? It's been on Crazyoils and Duecilindri for over a year and all our friends and readers have seen it grow step by step. We are happy for Paolo and a bit proud too because if his bike is what it is it's also Crazyoils' fault.

In tutto questo tempo ho scordato di pubblicare le foto della mia moto ultimata, almeno per il momento. E' pronta da Febbraio ed io me ne sono completamente dimenticato, ovviamente dando sempre più importanza alle moto dei miei amici. Ci giro tutti i giorni, mi diverte e mi appaga. Questo è l'importante. Esiste un modo per definirla? La mia moto. La Crazyoils Special N.1. Può piacere o non piacere ma questo non mi importa. E' la mia moto e questo mi basta. Ora le ritaglio un piccolo spazio su questo mio blog fatto di sogni, miei e vostri.

After all these months I forgot to post some pics of my little bike. It's done at least for the moment. It's been done since February. But I forgot to post it because my friends bikes are more important to me. I ride it every day. I love it, it's fun and it makes me proud. And that's all I care about. Is there a way to define it? Who cares? It's my bike. It's the Crazyoils Special N.1. You may like it or not but I don't give a f*çK. It's my bike and that's all. And now it's time to give it a little place in my blog full of dreams, mine and yours.

MASERATI

Oggi ho deciso di prendermi una giornata di pausa molto particolare e mi sono recato a Modena con un caro amico a visitare la fabbrica della Maserati. L'occasione è nata dal fatto che un altro caro amico ci lavora dentro e mi ha stuzzicato con la proposta. Visita guidata all'unità produttiva, showroom, e prova della nuovissima Quattroporte GTS da 430 cavalli. Un ottimo spaghetto in mensa e poi rientro a casa. Giornata splendida quindi all'insegna dei motori, della velocità e del miglior "made in Italy" che si possa desiderare. Ringrazio Gianluca e tutti i collaboratori della Maserati che ci hanno accolto ed accompagnato. Purtroppo per ovvie ragioni non ho potuto fare foto. Ma l'esperienza è stata davvero speciale.

Today I decided to take a day off and go to Modena to visit the Maserati factory with a good friend of mine. Another good friend works there and that's why we went there to take this amazing experience. We saw the production and all the assempling processes, spent some time dreaming in the showroom and went for a test ride on a brand new Quattoporte GTS that has only 430hp! After some great spaghetti and an espresso we drove back home. It's been a great day in the name of the Gods of Speed and the best "made in Italy" in the World. All our thanks go to Gianluca and the Maserati staff that gave us this unique opportunity. Unfortunately for obvious reasons I couldn't take pictures but I'll save the memory for the resto of my life.
